Abundant Earth run a veg box scheme for Durham City, provide courses in permaculture and crafts, produce craft items including willow baskets and provide specialist services such as alternative ceremonies, they also have regular volunteering opportunities to learn about aspects of permaculture and food production, and they are a Permaculture Association LAND Centre

Curious Tent Hire provides awnings, splendid bell tents, yurts and other creative structures for events and festivals

Gibside Community Farm run a community supported agriculture scheme at Gibside in the Derwentside Valley, near Gateshead

Green Man Enterprises provide woodland management, food growing projects, recycling, permaculture and nature conservation projects.

Grow to Glow creates a range of skincare products made using local plants grown or foraged and also run workshops in creating your own ointment using foraged ingredients

Harehope Quarry Project in Weardale runs courses and events in a range of environmental and sustainable living matters at its amazing geological and historical limestone quarry site which also includes a Walter Segal classroom and they are a Permaculture Association LAND centre

Honest Graft is run by enthusiasts in Newcastle upon Tyne who work with a wide range of local groups, community orchards and individuals, teaching people the age old technique of grafting, and in so doing introduce to them the many thousands of varieties of top-fruit; apples, pears, plums, gages, quince etc which grow in the UK

LEAP is the north east’s passivhaus architects practice and low energy consultants, you can see an example of their work here

North East Organic Growers are a worker’s co-operative based in the village of Bomarsund, near Bedlington, twelve miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne, that grow organic vegetables on their ten acre site and run a veg box scheme. Since 1995 they have been growing a wide range of veg and distribute it via drop off points in Alnwick, Hexham, Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle

Northern Dales Farmers Markets are a social enterprise that hold monthly markets in Stokesley, Richmond, Masham, Northallerton, Hartlepool, Yarm and Middlesbrough. They have a fantastic and diverse range of stallholders who are all extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their produce and they hold special events throughout the year

Old Sleningford Farm is a smallholding 5 miles north of Ripon in rural North Yorkshire, they demonstrate a low impact way of life, run  courses on a wide range of land based activities, manage livestock and a forest garden, and they are a Permaculture Association LAND centre

Re-f-use is Durham City’s based real junk food project organising regular community meals made from food that would otherwise be chucked away

Re-pute.it are based in Durham and provide affordable reliable up-cycled 2nd hand laptops with free open source software and also run a support club for their customers

Scotswood Natural Community Garden based in the west end of Newcastle is a well established permaculture designed community garden running regular events and activities, they are also a Permaculture Association LAND centre

Sustainable Enterprise Strategies are a coop that provides advice on how to start a coop or social enterprise, they are based in Sunderland and have years of experience of setting up housing coops and workers coops

Sylvan Skills is run by Ruth Thompson who works with schools and community groups to create Willow Sculptures, Woven Fencing, Living willow structures and Baskets. She also manages hazel coppice and several willow beds for providing a range of sizes and species suitable for her work.Ruth is also involved in recycling carbon from wood back into the soil to help mitigate climate change

The Hop Garden is a permaculture inspired organic community allotment at High Spen, south west of Gateshead, they have regular volunteer days

The Magic Hat Cafe are Newcastle’s very own real junk food project, you can link with their news at their Facebook page

The Red Shed Nursery is Graham Bell’s and Nancy’s specialist plant nursery based in their very well established forest garden at Coldstream, they also run permaculture courses, provide consultancy and they are a Permaculture Association ScotLAND centre

The Wild Orchard provides workshops and food for events specialising in wild food and local seasonal food
